Updated: Mar 20, 2024

Date: 2/20/2024

Wax: Coconut Apricot

FO: A sweet scent with a hint of leather

Wick: CDN 12

Jar: Clear Straight 3 1/8D x 3H

Notes: I used sticks to raise while cooling to harden as equal as possible. I need to get a rack.

Findings:

Hour after hardening- No cold throw yet, but dust cover was put on since it was made in the kitchen. Top was very smooth and not glass wet spots.

6:05 pm. The first four hour burn had a few scents in the room already such as crawfish smell. There was no draft from the AC when lit. The cold throw was very good. I'd say 9/10. The flame was also a good size. As the hours passed by, the AC would kick on a few times and the candle was right underneath the vent. There was a full meltpool by hour 3 and no hot throw that I could smelled. Though I also had a stuffed nose. My daughter told me there was a smell. The wick was still a perfect size and had a minimum mushroom. Blew it out at 10 pm.

6:30 am. The wick was cut to 1/4 inch and the flame was still a good size. There was no draft and it was 60 degrees inside. An hour and a half later, there was still no scent. After blowing my nose I could finally smell it. It was my nose after all. I'm also wondering if I was going through noseblindness. There was a little bit of tunneling but that's to be expected of coconutapricot wax. Three hours later, the smell is stronger and there was a full melt pool. The flame began to dance a little. At hour 4, I left to go to the garage and smelled some coffee to reset my already stuffy nose. When I reentered the house, the smell was great! It could have been a little better, but it filled the living room was is a standard size. I would say that my room recommendation would be a bedroom to closed living room area. The mushroom was a little bigger this time.

2:00 pm. I lit the candle but there was a draft from the AC and no initial scent. I left the house to run errands leaving the candle lit with people still in the room to watch it. When I came back at 4:32, the house smelled amazing! The hot throw was wonderful! There was no tunneling or soot and the mushoom was minimal. The candle was 1/3 burned and the flame was dancing a little. Blew out at 5:12 pm.

7:12 pm. The candle was 1/2 way done with a full meltpool. 13 hours total and the hot throw was still very good. At 9:02 pm it was blown out leaving a large mushroom. Maybe I should wick down.

7:29 am. The top is very nice and clean with no tunneling at all. I trimmed off the big mushroom and did NOT light the candle. The life might be about 30 hours at least. The black thermal label is still good, which means it's not too hot to burn the thermal label off.

12:00 pm. The background had the smell of Spam and I lit the candle. No initial hot throw but I just started so I'll wait a bit. There was also a draft. At 1 pm, I began to smell the candle. 9/10. At 2:00 pm, I blew it out.

7:30 am. I didn't trim the mushroom and today will be a power burn since most people do not trim and also leave candles burning. The smell was about 9/10 for the room size. There was a bit of soot beginning to turn the opening black, but it wasn't bad. The label was still a good color. The mushroom was big and there was a full meltpool. There was about 28 hours total with 1/3 of the candle left.

END

Final: This candle could be wicked down a little and the smell was great. I'd say it passed. I will test again since my nose was blind as well as stuffy.
